Federated offers a broad range of commercial insurance targeted at selected classes of small and mid-sized commercial customers, including property, general liability and automobile insurance, providing a wide range of one-stop shopping solutions to associations and businesses across Canada. Federated focuses primarily on commercial and association business in sectors which include petroleum distributors, equipment dealers, automobile dealers, tire dealers, electrical contractors, auto repair and body shops, and construction contractors. Federated also offers a small amount of personal lines insurance, including homeowners, automobile and personal umbrella policies, primarily to its commercial lines customers.

Federated distributes its products through a dedicated sales force of approximately 100 Risk Services Coordinators, Customer Service Representatives and Loss Prevention Specialists.

Federated has carried on business in Canada since 1920 and was acquired by Fairfax in 1990. We acquired Federated in conjunction with our initial public offering in 2003.
